The Oregonian has an article on the temporary closing of the End Of The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and its associated museums. It seems they are in need of $100,000 to meet this years obligations, and are just unable to come up with it. The article points out a few things that are relevant elsewhere, such as the center once was quite busy, but has waned since its opening in 1995. It also mentions other museums are in financial distress. This is also the 150th anniversary of Oregon Statehood, or Sesquicentennial if you feel fancy. The most compelling thing for me is the comments left by the general public following the article.

I do not work for the center, and have actually never been there, but found this relevant to the museum community.
