Unfortunately, a woman does not need to be a mother to be discriminated
against; she just needs to be of childbearing age. There is a lot of
anecdotal evidence to suggest that some people are reluctant to hire women
in their thirties as a point of principle, as "they're just going to end up
getting pregnant and then their priorities will be elsewhere". Notice the
assumptions implicit in such a statement. It's the law of unintended
consequences in action here, and something to definitely keep in mind when
drawing up well-intentioned "family friendly" policies.

Show me the occasion upon which a man has been discriminated against at his
workplace for being a parent, and I'll give you a dollar.  Sure, any
discrimination based on parental (or non-) status is unfair, and should be
illegal.  In reality it's women who lose out for being parents, not men.
