The following position has come available at the National Cowgirl Museum
and Hall of Fame:

 

 

Director of Programming

 

The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame seeks a dynamic and creative
individual  responsible for the creation, coordination, delivery and
evaluation of the programs that support the museum's mission.  The
successful candidate will be a self-initiating individual capable of
working and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people and
following critical program timelines.  The director of programming
reports to the Executive Director.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all
phases of public programs at the museum.   This includes programs for
audiences of all ages, to foster an appreciation for and participation
in the western lifestyle.    

 

Opportunities exist to create specialized programs (lectures, films,
workshops, special talks and seasonal events) around the museum's
mission, collections, and exhibitions.  

 

Participates in museum's strategic planning. 

 

Develops departmental budget and manages all program income.

 

Foster relationships with Hall of Fame Honorees as well as organizations
within the western community.

 

Recruits all program speakers, hosts their sessions and coordinates all
arrangements:  travel, accommodations and honorariums and technical set
up.

 

Responsible for securing support/sponsorships for program development
through fundraising, project proposals & grants. 

 

Coordinates all scheduling/booking arrangements for events both within
the museum and off-site.

 

 

Qualifications:

*      Undergraduate degree from recognized educational institution,
preferably majoring in education or museum-related discipline.

*      Minimum of three years experience in public programming in a
museum or in the community.

*      Excellent communication skills.  

*      Excellent inter-personal skills 

*      Good organizational skills

*      Experience with developing and maintaining a budget.
