For those of you interested in the issues of fair use and publication
rights:

The College Art Association (U.S. and Canada) contained a set of
guidelines for its members in the November 1997 "CAA News" called
"Reproduction Rights in Scholarly and Educational Publishing." It is a
proposed national policy for the granting of reproduction rights in art
historical publishing. The statement appears on the CAA web site:
http://www.collegart.org/caa and is also available from the CAA office
by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

College Art Association
275 Seventh Avenue
New York, NY 10001

The CAA is the association for college and university professors of
studio art and art history. Their policy is aimed at ensuring that art
historians are able to obtain permission to reproduce visual materials
in scholarly publications at affordable fees.
