My museum trustees have asked me to check into the method and frequency of museum staff receiving commission or income based pay.  They are considering this as one means of dealing with possible income shortfalls.

I contacted several museum organizations which conduct regular salary surveys but none are aware of a single museum which uses commission based pay.  The AAM Technical Information Service stated "commissions in the museum field are generally frowned upon."

Does anyone know of a museum using commission or income based pay?  Your thoughts and help are greatly appreciated!
