Media Relations Director, Arts & Culture Public Relations Firm, New York

 

For our Arts & Culture PR and Specialized Events Firm client we are seeking
a Media Relations Director. The successful applicant will report directly to
the owner and will provide leadership and strategic direction for growing
team.  Duties include executing media relations campaigns and customized,
high-profile events; pitching features, review and news stories to
newspapers, magazines and online and broadcast media; oversee support staff
to write, edit and proofread media releases and related materials; grow
relationships on behalf of the business; other duties as necessary.  

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years' experience in arts & culture
PR and communications with PR agency experience preferred; a proven record
of results with print, broadcast and media coverage; in-depth knowledge of
media and developed contact list of key editors, writers and producers; and
excellent communications, writing and organizational skills.  Strong
technical skills including Microsoft, Photoshop, PowerPoint, MAC and
experience with HTML templates are required; ability to travel and knowledge
of social media marketing are essential.   An exciting position for an
ambitious, independent, hard-working self-starter to join a growing team
