Most of the following is a posting I made to Cons DistList a few months
ago. They are articles on digital cameras and scanners out *today.* At
the end is a more recent article on the Olympus D600L. Most consumer
review sources seem to agree that the high end products of the consumer
digital cameras market are the Kodak DC210 and the Olympus D600L.

Two very through reviews of top consumer digital cameras in Feb. 1998,
Popular Photography, McNamara, M.J. Features, New Frontiers, New Digital
Rollouts Break the Megapixel and Megabuck Barriers. pp 50-53 + 196.
[Includes a positive review of the Kodak DC210 digital camera.]

Very nice article on the newest bread of scanners in: Electronic
Publishing, Jan. 1998, Hevenor, K., Flatbeads Chase the Drum (scanner)
Market, pp 34-38. 603-891-9166 for Penwell Publishing Co.;

The newest Popular Photography review of digital cameras: McNamara, M.J.
35mm VS. Digital Cameras: Does the Olympus D600L SLR blow the 35mm
Olympus IS-20 DLX into the weeds? Popular Photography, March 1998, Vol
62, No.3, pp 62-65 & 102. It is a side by side comparison of equivalent
film and digital cameras from the same manufacture. It is well done and
comes to the obvious conclusion that 35mm is still better. But, with
good support (resolution targets) McNamara shows that digital is
catching up quickly.
