GalleryGuide publishes a seasonal small booklet that you will find in most
art galleries and museums of NYC... without charge! The same happens with
Artinfo, which publishes "Museums" with a cost of just a few bucks but you
can get it for free in the information touristic information desk of Penn
Station.
Finally, you will find that there are specific guides and maps, such as the
one on art galleries of Chelsea (also gratis) But if after all you feel like
buying some art, I am afraid the word gratis will end there ;-)
