Gates Donates $200M To Bring Internet To Libraries (6/24/1997)

"SEATTLE - Bill and Melinda Gates announced yesterday their largest philanthropic
contribution to date, a program to bring the Internet to as many as half the public
libraries in the United States and Canada."

"The Microsoft Corp. chairman and his wife will contribute $200 million to establish
the Gates Library Foundation to provide computers, Internet access and training.
The corporation will contribute $200 million in software and technical support."
