  In case noone else has answered your question, there is only one year
between 1 BC and 1 AD.  The "Christian Era" began on Ja. 1st, 1 AD.  Thus,
Jan. 1st 2000 will be 1999 years into that era, rather that 2000 years into
that era and the second millenium will not be until the turn of the year
2001.
