Asst. Curator of Art - SARASOTA, FL The John and Mable Ringling Museum of ArtSarasota, FL Location: Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Apply On Or Before: 08/11/2006   Schedule Flexible hours required due to public and event engagements. Responsibilities Reporting to the Curator of Collections, the Assistant Curator will assist in the coordination of the Curatorial Division and must be able to work flexibly as part of a larger, curatorial team.  The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues and supervisor to originate installations, exhibitions, projects and programs which maximize the use and visibility of the Museum's collection.  The candidate must be able to engage and interact effectively with the public at all levels, and will also work with the Education Division on museum programs. Requirements Broad knowledge of art history, and a specialization in Old Master paintings is preferred.  Excellent  writing, research, and project planning skills are necessary, along with a reading proficiency in a foreign language.  This position requires fingerprinting. Qualifications Candidate will minimally present a Masters degree in the history of art (Ph.D. preferred), and at least two years of curatorial or relevant experience is desired. Other Information Basic knowledge of European languages highly desirable.  Duties include extensive national/international travel for periods of up to one week.
