Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in education, history, museum studies, folklife, or
public history.
• Four years experience, with a proven track record, with education
programming or community outreach in museums or at historic sites.
• Extensive knowledge of professional museum principles, practices,
and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of research tools and methodology.
• Excellent written and oral skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills.
• Self directed and motivated, detail-oriented, goal-directed.
• Computer literate.

Desirable Qualification:
• Classroom teaching experience.
• Previous experience working with volunteers.
• Basic knowledge of North Dakota or Northern Great Plains history,
and/or historic preservation programs.

Summary of Work:
Responsible for the over-all direction, development and implementation of a
multifaceted education program for audiences of all ages, to foster an
appreciation for and participation in history.  Exciting opportunities exist
to create specialized programs and activities around the agency mission,
collections, and exhibitions.  Focus will be on opportunities presented at
the North Dakota Heritage Center, while overseeing outreach activities
throughout the state.  Liaison with the North Dakota Department of Public
Instruction.  Other duties include participating as a team member in
long-range and ongoing planning for the Museum & Education Division and
education department, and assisting with other responsibilities as assigned.

4. Up to 20 working days military leave with full pay.

presentations, programs, and workshops around the state, and occasionally
assists with programming at the North Dakota Heritage Center.  Extensive
travel during the summer months.  Manages the statewide Suitcase Exhibits in
North Dakota (S.E.N.D.) Program.  Other duties include participating as a
team member in long-range and ongoing planning for the Museum & Education
Division and education department, and assisting with other responsibilities
as assigned.
