Just a short note of a unique botanical garden of bamboos in Japan.
China's Great Panda are known as great lover of eating bamboos. But they are not only ones who have bamboos as an favorite food (GPs only eat one kind of bamboo for their food!). Cooked bamboo shoot i
s the traditional favorite among Japanese.
There is a botanical garden specialized only in bamboos at small mountian town called Funaoka in Tottori Prefecture in Japan. 200 kinds of bamboos are grown and exhibited in 10 ha garden. Bamboo charc
oal, bamboo vinegar good for flowers' growth (Yours truly is going try it on his Fish'n Chips someday...), Take-tombo (a toy looking like a dragon fly) all made with their bamboos, are sold as their p
opular merchandise. They have a small area for camping and three lodges for accomodation as well on the free admission garden. Worth to have a peep of their website <www.hal.ne.jp/funaoka/> Bamboo Gar

Note bamboos are still used for whipping the bottoms of naughty brats at elementary schools by our wicked teachers!
