The Balboa Park Learning Institute presents the 2017 Smith Leadership
Symposium: Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement

This year’s Smith Leadership Symposium <http://www.smithsymposium.org/> will
explore the connection between social responsibility and civic engagement.
What is your organization’s social responsibility to the arts, culture, and
science community, as well as, the community at large? How can
organizations be more civically engaged? This professional development
opportunity will bring together local and national speakers for a full day
of learning opportunities focused on how individuals can be advocates for
not only themselves, but for organizations as a whole through civil
discourse and inclusive programming.

Featuring *Shamell Bell*, a dancer and Community Organizer and Arts &
Culture liaison with Black Lives Matter LA, *Mike Murawski*, Director of
Education and Public Programming at Portland Art Museum, *Milenko Matanovic*
, Founder of the Pomegranate Center in Seattle, Washington and *Monica O.
Montgomery*, founding Director and Curator of the Museum of Impact and
Director of Museum Hue!

Join us in Balboa Park, San Diego for a morning full of inspiring
presentations along with hands-on workshops in the afternoon facilitated by
our speakers, Mike Murawski and Milenko Matanovic. You don't want to miss
