Just to put everyone's mind at ease...
-flushing was never an option
-I was in contact with my local pharmacist before I popped out here to play with everyone, she reccomended I see what other museums have done, then combine their advice with her advice and local laws to come up with a solution that is truly best practices for all sides of the equation
-yes, many of the items are benign unless ingested. But they have powdered and are no longer remaining contained in their original packagaing so I want them gone.

I do appreciate the conversation this topic has generated. I particularly appreciate the institutions who have gone through a similar process and stepped forward to offer their advice and guidance. That is the thing that makes the Museum Community the best professional community on Earth.

The Fort Morgan Museum is the only AAM accredited museum on the eastern plains of Colorado, stop in and see why.
