Exhibition and Sculpture Park Manager

Salary: $40,000 Commensurate with experience


The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, located in Miami, Florida, is looking for a team player that will be responsible for designing and installing exhibitions and the maintenance and growth of the Sculpture Park. Day-to-day operations will be coordinated by the Curator of Collections and the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and two years of appropriate experience. College course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Duties include:
-Works closely with the Curatorial staff to plan the scope and detail of exhibits and displays including creating drawings and specifications that fully describe exhibition layout, look and feel, research and implement new technologies in exhibition design (use of Virtual Gallerie software to design exhibits).

-Develops installations scheduling and time-lines

-Works with the Budget and Finance Manager to discuss a budget in order to manage and document installation expenditures

-Assists in all aspects of exhibition preparation, from installation to de-installation. Includes packing and unpacking artwork, assisting with the movement of artwork, designing and constructing display cases, mounts and accessories for displays, walls and panels, painting gallery spaces and display areas, handling and installing artwork with extreme care, setting up lighting for exhibitions, installing exhibition signage and monitoring and maintaining condition of displays in galleries and collections storage area (climate control and lighting)

-Assists in the maintenance of the workshop and tools and ensures that all equipment is compliant with FIU's Safety Guidelines

-Works closely with the Collections department with the care and maintenance of artwork, movement of artworks for shipping, constructing crates and packing works of art for shipping, matting and framing artwork, restoring and cleaning specimens and/or frames requiring extreme care in handling

-Implements and interprets museum policies according to the standards of the American Association of Museums

-Ensures the growth, restoration and maintenance of the Sculpture Park, which includes cleaning and preventive treatments on various materials

-Assists with general building maintenance, setup and construction of furniture
