A/V Technician - The new 175,000 sf Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, opening in April 2001, will include an IMAX® Theatre, Special Effects and Storytelling Theaters, Café, Store, Temporary Exhibit Gallery (7,000sf), and 34,000 sf of media, interactive, immersive and traditional exhibit experiences.  Under the direction of the Lead Fabricator, this position is responsible for the maintenance of all multi-media components in the approximately 41,000 square feet of permanent and temporary exhibits. Ensures continual functioning of all electronic media, associated lighting systems and interactive displays to achieve design and interpretive intent. Organizes and maintains adequate stock of replacement parts and systems. Maintains organization of A/V shop areas for safety, cleanliness and inventory control. Participates as a team member in the planning, coordination and installation of exhibit displays. Responsibilities include management of multiple projects, schedules and deadlines. Reporting to the Head of Exhibits, the Lead Fabricator is responsible for the installation, maintenance and deinstallation of permanent and temporary exhibits totaling approximately 41,000 square feet. Supervises staff of Fabricators and Technicians. Performs general and specialized fabrication in the construction of crates, exhibit furniture, cases, artifact mounts and various exhibit support material. Manages Exhibit shop areas for safety, cleanliness and inventory control. Applicants must include photographs of fabrication projects or exhibit installations for which they were primarily responsible for construction.
