Purpose of Position:

This position will provide strategic and managerial
leadership for the Museum of Art's Educational Program, public programs and
overall visitor experience, and is a key position in the public face of the
museum. This position will be responsible for leading our efforts to reach
into diverse communities; to create accessible and innovative programs and to
build an innovative learning culture within the museum. The position oversees
the planning, development and implementation of programs, workshops, lectures,
and special events to expand the educational role of the museum in formal
education for schools as well as lifelong self-directed learning. This position
will ensure that the museum addresses key issues in museum education and is
aware of innovations in museums education. This position will develop public
programs so the museum is seen as an educational institution in New
Mexico. This position will be responsible for the creation and
implementation of an Audience Development strategy that binds our core visitors
more closely to us and reaches out to new audiences and under-served
communities. 

 

This position is a Pay Band 80.

 

CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION:

Administrative
Operations Manager I 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study
from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of professional
level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the
position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment.  Any
combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct
experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the
required education and experience.  A hiring agency will designate a
portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized
experience.  Any required licensure, certification or registration shall
be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above
requirements.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: 

Working Conditions:  

Walking, lifting up to 20 lbs. including moving art work, set up of equipment
and furniture for public programs, working at the computer for up to 6 hours a
day, sometimes workin in dusty, dirty work areas. Some out of state travel may
be required. May have to work on occasional after hour events. 







Conditions of Employment:  

Working Conditions for individual positions in this Manager Category Level will
vary based on each agency’s utilization, essential functions, and the
recruitment needs at the time a vacancy is posted.







Default FLSA Status:  

Exempt. FLSA status may be determined to be different at the agency level based
on the agency’s utilization of the position.







Bargaining Unit:  This
position is not covered by a collective bargaining unit.
