I see that the list is very active in this period, I suppose that many
colleagues was return from holidays.

So, it is time to inform who was in holidays that with a group of colleagues
we will try to create a Young Museums Professional Group (the final name
will be to better define).
Last week I meet, informally, in Paris the ICOM General Secretary and we
talk about this idea. He was happy about this initiative and he want to look
again to the proposal after a better definition about who will join the
group, the group goals and strategic plan to achieve the goals.
He was very clear that the creation of a new International Committees inside
ICOM it will be difficult (also regarding burocracy) and with long times
(about Vienna 2007 general assembly). So, to be active very soon a way can
be to join an existing committee (like Ictop) or to create the group in
independent way and try to have ICOM support joint it as International
Affiliated Organisations.
This also means that an independent group can also cooperate with other
associations like AAM or equivalent organisation in other countries.

Last week we create a focus group to setup the document ("manifesto" or
"statement of purpose" or "memorandum of understanding") that will describe
all things about the group (Why to create this group, Who will join, what to
do and how to do, timeline etc).

It possible, please, to join the focus group (or only to assist to the
discussion) via the YPC list created ad hoc, to subscribe to the list just
go to my home page www.mariobucolo.com there is also an overview page and
the list archive will show various consideration.

Actually in the focus group there are colleagues from many countries and 3
continents, we also hope that colleagues from Asia and Africa can joint the
focus group.

The temporary name "Young..." not means that the participation is limited
only to young colleagues (I'm 37). Anyone will be welcome to join the focus
group (and the group when will be ready) and help us in this work, we need
also the experience from seniors and from mentors.

We also search for help from creative colleagues that can help us to find a
better name (or aka) for the group.

All the best

Mario

PS: in this post I don't repeat all the consideration that generate the
tentative to create this young museums professional groups. There are many
posts about this in the archives of Museum L, Icom L and YPC list, on my
home page there are links to all of this archives.

PPS: sorry for my English, I try all my best...
