July 15, 2009 - Hot Springs Arkansas

In a press release today the Museum of Contemporary Art at the Ozark and Art-Exchange.com made the following statement:

In April, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Hot Springs, Arkansas hosted a gala event featuring works by Boban, Garcia, Desjardin and Renzo along with an exhibit of photographs by one of Arkansas preeminent artists, Desfarmer. MOCA is located in the former Ozark Bathhouse in the historic “Bathhouse Row” district in downtown Hot Springs. It has taken over 4-years of persistent effort to acquire the 60-year lease, complete major renovations to the building, raise the requisite capital with which the museum can operate. And now, finally the project is up and running

Over the past 4-years on 3-occasions we have asked artists like you to donate a work for an art auction which funded the minimal operating budget necessary to see us through the past 4-years. Now that our doors are open operating capital remains a necessity. Eventually we will be able to write grants and secure longer term financing with which to create a great institution here in Hot Springs, the City of the Arts.

We are both happy and proud to announce our 4th Annual Art Auction which, for the first time, will be held in our beautifully renovated Ozark building. This time we are seeking "original works only"! We want approximately 50-pieces which will be auctioned off to our patrons and the funds will go to our operational budget.

We are requesting assistance from Art-Exchange again for our 2009 Auction which will take place in September, for the first time, in the museum. The artists are selected by art quality and certain criteria included in their resume. You can read about our progress with this important project by visiting www.museumofcontemporaryart.org. <http://www.museumofcontemporaryart.org/>

We are also beginning to source works for our permanent collection and special consideration will be given to artists who have actually made the museum a possibility by supporting our needs in the past and present. Our permanent collection will be comprised of "significant works" by "contemporary artists".

Until we have a curator on staff, one of the prime considerations will remain, "have works by this artist been selected by other museums"? Be sure to send us visuals of works you would like to have us consider along with a full background on your accomplishments. Perhaps one of your works can become part of our permanent collection. By contributing a work for our auction we can become familiar with the quality of your work.

Please support our auction by immediately contacting Lisa Scott at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> . Thank you.
