The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum is offering a PAID Summer Internship experience.



Curatorial Interns will assist in projects that range from a wide variety of museum-related tasks, including collections management, exhibit design, educational programing and site interpretation. Museum staff will work with the intern to identify projects which correlate with his/her interests and career goals. 




Job Title:               CuratorialInternship
Job Location:      Leadville,Colorado, United States
Job Type:                Seasonal, 35hrs per week 
Job Duration:      FlexibleDates, May 19th - September 30th, 2014
JOb wage:              $8.50/Hr.
reports to:          Director,Curator and Registrar 
HOUSING:                 Noon-site housing is available; however, job site is centrally located







Theintern will divide hours between curatorial projects and work as a VisitorServices Representative (VSR).


Curatorial essentialduties/responsibilities include: 



Process andcatalog incoming and backlogged collections

Perform regularinventories for exhibit and storage collections 

Assist curatorialteam with the fabrication and installation of planned exhibits

Execute properarchival and object handling, storage and care as dictated by the MuseumCollections Policy

As a Visitor Services Representative(VSR) the position will require the following:

Greet allvisitors in a warm, friendly manner

Answer allvisitor enquiries about the Museum, the Matchless Mine and the local area

Assist andprocess transactions/cash-handling in Admissions and Gift Shop

Complete dailyopening and closing procedures (counting float, requesting change, balancingcash drawer, etc.)
