*Heritage Farm Operations Supervisor **(full-time)*



*ABOUT US:* The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency
that provides its 75,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational
facilities, programs, events, parks and open spaces. Spring Valley’s
Volkening Heritage Farm is a living history museum where visitors can
experience life on an authentic 1880s German farm, complete with horses,
cows, pigs, chickens, and much more!



*JOB SUMMARY:* The Farm Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing
daily and seasonal operations at the living history museum / farm. Museum
structures include a farm house, harness shop, smokehouse, spring house,
equipment shed/blacksmith shop, livestock barns (horses, cows, pigs, and
more), and a chicken coop. Program areas include general visitation, school
field trip programs, thematic family programs, special events, retail
operations, summer camps, and rentals. Conducts ongoing research and
development of the site's physical features, buildings, historic
collections, and livestock program and supervises other staff and
volunteers in the day-to-day care of livestock and general operation of the
living history farm. Assists with collections management, including
identification and research of artifacts. Direct supervisory responsibility
for Farm Operations Staff and Livestock Volunteers, and indirect
supervisory responsibility for Program Staff and Interpretive Volunteers.



*LOCATION:*  Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road



*QUALIFICATIONS:  *The best applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in
Agriculture, History, Animal Science, Museum Studies, Historical
Administration or related field, along with at least five (5) years’
experience in museum administration and/or living history operations,
including managing livestock operations, dairy operations, and care and use
of draft horses in historic agriculture and public conveyance (i.e. wagon
rides).



*SCHEDULING & PAY:  *This as a full-time year-round supervisory level
position. Core hours are typically 8am – 4pm with additional night and
weekend work required. Target hiring range is mid $50’s (depending on
qualifications)
