I really like the idea of a research membership!
We also have a research fee of $15 per hour. We currently offer the first
half-hour free but I think that will be eliminated the next time we examine
genealogy prices. The fee is only mandatory when we respond to inquiries by
people who aren't physically present while we do the research but a lot of
our in-person researchers are good tippers.
We've been told by researchers looking all over the country that our fee is
pretty reasonable and toward the lower end of the average they saw. One
museum this couple had been working with was charging $50 an hour!
