Minnetrista, East Central Indiana's Center for Natural and Cultural
Heritage, seeks applications for qualified candidates for the new position
of Retail Manager.  Minnetrista creates awareness, understanding, and
appreciation of the natural heritage and cultural heritage of East Central
Indiana.  It is a fourteen-year-old, heritage institution located on a
thirty-five acre campus along White River in downtown Muncie, Indiana.

Job Description

Position Title:                 Retail Manager
Reporting Department:   Merchandise Operations
Reporting Supervisor:   Director of Merchandise Operations
Location:                       Minnetrista Center Shop & Orchard Shop
Length of Appointment:  Year Around
Status:                         Exempt - Full Time
Grade:                          5

PURPOSE:
This position will be in charge of managing the Center Shop, Orchard Shop,
Wholesale Department, Food Service and Vending areas. Will also
manage/coordinate staff in each of these areas.  Will be responsible for
maximizing the earned income in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a bachelor's
degree in marketing, retail management or a related field, as well as five
years of retail experience and management skills.
This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to
work with diverse groups.  Must be able to independently make decisions and
be detail-oriented.  Must have a very good sense of urgency, priority and
follow through. This position requires a neat appearance, excellent
communication and telephone skills.  Must be able to follow directives and
implement quickly.  Working well in a group environment or alone is required
with little or no supervision.  Must be able to bend, stoop and retrieve
merchandise.  Lifting up to 42 pounds and carrying it 12 feet is a
requirement.  A valid driver's license is required.  Reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to
perform the essential functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
        *       Supervise the Retail Buyer and Food Service Coordinator.
        *       Work with Retail Buyer on buying plan and annual physical
inventory process and reconciliation.
        *       Work with Food Service Coordinator on inventory, purchasing,
invoicing, cost analysis and billing of all food service needs.
        *       Supervise employees and volunteers engaged in sales work,
taking of inventories, reconciling     cash with sales receipts, keeping
operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for accounting
department.
        *       Plan and prepare retail work schedules and assign employees
to specific duties.
*       Analyze past sales and project future trends with Retail Buyer.
*       Work with retail staff on displays and sales.
*       Develop and implement procedures for daily shop and food service
activities.
*       Reconcile all UPS statements and bills.
*       Order all retail fixtures.
*       Work closely with Special Events Manager.
*       Answer customer complaints or inquiries.
*       Perform all other duties required.
