A conservator friend recommended washing (I believe it was
machine-washing) "commercial" Tyvek -- that makes it soft and pliable,
more like the museum-grade variety; I hadn't assumed that the color
would still bleed at that point, though I'll admit I hadn't thought
about it, and haven't experimented. Any further thoughts would be
appreciated. -- Pam
