REGISTRAR, Union Station Kansas City

Primary record-keeper for the institution's historical collections, maintaining records of accession, condition and location of all objects owned and administered by Union Station Kansas City as well as objects within the institution's care.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Museum Studies, Historical Administration or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, legal documents and governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from top management, customers and the general public.

Responsibilities:
Registers and assigns accession numbers to all objects in the collection according to established registration system. Maintains and safeguards the integrity of all collections documentation.

Works with staff in acquiring objects for acquisition or loan; works directly with donors and lenders on the paperwork details.

Keeps the department's procedures manual updated annually or when needed.

Oversee all incoming and outgoing loan activity for the Kansas City Museum and Union Station Kansas City.

Assist with the exhibition activities of Union Station and the Kansas City Museum including shipping arrangements, insurance certificates and condition reporting.

Presents proposed acquisitions list for every Acquisitions Committee meeting, a sub-committee of the Board of Directors.
