AAAS Conference on Promoting Climate Literacy Through Informal Science
February 17-18, 2010
San Diego, CA
 
Project 2061 of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is pleased to announce the AAAS Conference on Promoting Climate Literacy Through Informal Science, Feb. 17-18, 2010, in San Diego, CA.  Supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation, the Conference is co-sponsored with the Birch Aquarium of the Scripps Institution for Oceanography. 
 
The Climate Literacy Conference will engage informal science educators from:
            - science centers and museums,
            - zoos and aquariums,
            - media projects, and
            - community and youth programs
in lively and informative sessions on the science of climate change and its impact, the role of informal science places and programs in fostering climate literacy, and insights and strategies for communicating with public audiences about this important and urgent topic.  Join well-known climate science experts, science communicators and educators, and colleagues from across the informal science community for a unique opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills, forge new partnerships, and share experiences and expertise.

Informal science institutions, projects, and programs are invited to submit an application for NSF-funded support that will enable approximately 50 two-member teams to attend the Climate Literacy Conference. Travel, food and lodging will be covered for teams that are selected to participate. 
 
Teams will also have the opportunity to attend the 2010 AAAS Annual Meeting to be held in San Diegoimmediately following the Climate Literacy Conference.
