MessageDirk:
The Notebaert Nature Museum does have solar panels to supplement what we
pull from the city (Chicago). They are part of a larger, "green building"
system that we interpret including green roof gardens and water conservation
systems. My understanding from our former facilities director is that the
solar panels, installed less than 5 years ago, have not "paid for
themselves" yet. Feel free to contact me off list for more information.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Solar panels and museums

  Dear all,

I would be interested to know if anyone out there knows of museums that
use solar panels to help provide them with energy.

Also, would anyone know if such an approach lived up to expectations (in
other words, did these panels "pay for themselves?")

  Thanks,

  Dirk Van Tuerenhout
