There is something in this thread that I am curious about, and it could open a
whole can of personnel law worms.  Here goes:

Why should Directors have contracts?  What protection does it really offer you
since most states have "employment at will" rules?

How does this compare to the for-profit world beyond lawyers (who seem more
like contractors than employees)?  Does, for example, the vice president of
the local bank have a contract?  Or is this person simply an employee?

Shouldn't benefits, vacation, etc, be spelled out in the personnel policies of
the institution?  What separates an employee who is covered under the
personnel policies from someone who is covered by a contract?
