Visitors Count! is AASLH's comprehensive audience research tool available for history museums, historic houses, historic sites, and other organizations. Developed in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management of Nashville, the program is designed for mid-size and large organizations that are interested in surveying visitors to gain data and feedback that will strengthen marketing, fundraising, and audience and member loyalty.

Visitors Count! offers three unique features:
1.. Key Drivers - Your visitor survey report identifies specific areas your institution must perform well in so visitors have an excellent experience
2.. Proven Survey Instrument - The survey uses questions tested for three years in the field. You also receive custom survey questions to ask visitors about issues specific to your institution
3.. Benchmarks - You receive comparisons of your survey results with sites similar to yours (geographic, budget, governance, type, etc.)
To survey 2011 spring and summer visitors, interested institutions need to sign up by January 15th. Visit www.aaslh.org/visitorscount for more information including the complete participant list. For a program overview, contact Cherie Cook, AASLH Senior Program Manager, [log in to unmask] or 573.893.5164.

"Visitors Count! helped justify our request for an increase in funding from our city's hotel occupancy tax. The city council complimented our ability to address the funding qualifications with clear and convincing data. As a result, our share of the hotel occupancy tax increased from $50,000 to $100,000." Robert Esterlein, COO, Admiral Nimitz Foundation and the National Museum of the Pacific War, Fredericksburg, Texas

"Naper Settlement participated in Visitors Count! so we could get to know those people who so often remain silent in our planning processes-our visitors. We learned what we are doing right, what meets expectations and what needs work. When resources are tight, as they certainly are right now, this is critical information. We need to put our time, money and resources into the things that are most important to our customer base. This program is helping us to do that." Donna Sack, Director of Visitor Services, Naper Settlement, Naperville, Illinois
