DIRECTOR OF MUSEUM EDUCATION

JOB SUMMARY: 

Direct all Museum education endeavors, including, but not limited to,
on-site and distance learning education programs, public and visitor
programs, outreach programs and the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship
Program.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:  

*           Direct Museum education, outreach, distance learning and
public programs and staff, promoting excellence in education to all
audiences

*           Manage, refine and develop curriculum and programs to
support and build on the Hall of Fame's 17 units

*           Manage and grow the Hall of Fame's "Be A Superior Example"
program, promoting healthy living 

*           Serve as the director of the Frank and Peggy Steele
Internship Program, managing alumni network, student and donor
relationships and seminar and higher learning development elements of
national Internship program

*           Oversee budgets and track expenditures for the education,
Museum programs and Steele internship endeavors

*           Maintain relationships with and communication to Education
donors and chief constituents

*           Liaise with internal and national audiences to broaden the
Museum's outreach efforts.

*           Present special event programs for the Museum, speak at
conferences and other educational events, promoting the components of
the Hall of Fame's educational efforts

*           Cultivate partnerships with external academic and technology
resources to enhance the Museum's education initiatives.

*           Target university collaborations and advance educational
efforts with post-secondary opportunities

*           Remain current with technological developments, teaching
practices and funding opportunities related to Museum education.

*           Organizes marketing materials and communications plans for
the Hall of Fame's educational programs and outreach projects, including
Web site, e-news letters, and other collateral to promote initiatives.

*           Serve as the director of the Museum's education staff,
including part-time teachers, to guide and shape administrative
responsibilities.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

*           Provide communications support for Museum's publications and
existing publicity initiatives 

*           Fulfills Hall of Fame Weekend and Special Event duties as
assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:  Master's Degree in education or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years in public education, museum
programming or a comparable leadership position. 

ABILITIES: Excellent writing, editorial and verbal skills. Working
knowledge of Windows-based programs, including presentation and
publishing software. Highly organized, detail oriented and the ability
to manage people, projects and budgets effectively. Self motivated with
a high degrees of energy, enthusiasm and professionalism.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*           Occasional travel and extended workdays, such as periodic
evenings and weekend events.

*           Effective communicator, with ability to address audiences in
all forms, oral and written, in-person and over the telephone.

TYPICAL EQUIPMENT USED:

Computers, video production equipment, videoconferencing hardware,
laptops, printers, and various other technologies.

The 30th annual Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open and Pro-Am Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 4-7 to benefit the scholarship endowment at Pathfinder Village and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
