Hey I'm certainly not complaining about the program considering that I've
had several interviews and landed myself a  permanent and good paying
position in the Smithsonian Institution one week after graduate school!

I guess I should have explained a bit more about the program.  Yes, it is
an issue of filling in the blanks, but I just use it as a BASIC framework
and my cover letter went well beyond the blanks to address my specific
skills and qualifications!  Not to mention, a cover letter is only one part of
the application process -- a good resume is certainly more important!

If you WROTE the computer program, great; otherwise, I suspect most
museums will be looking for employees with more creativity than filling in
the blanks.  My kids bring home their grade report print-outs with teacher
comments printed on the side; I can always spot them as picked off a
menu.
Much better to write your own, so that it is your own.
