Today, while working in our history collection, my student assistant
came across several packets of wooden matches (with sulfur tips,
according to the record) that are wrapped in aluminum foil. We're
trying to figure out what the safe way to store these objects would be,
and whether the aluminum foil was put on for a reason (to reduce the
potential for fire) or if it can be discarded.

I'd appreciate input from anyone who has advice on the safe way to
handle matches in history collections.

Thanks,
Angela
