Hi Kim,
The Alaska State Museum has produced a wonderful publication, available
in downloadable pdf format, called the Conservation Wise Guide. You can
find the link to the downloadable file here:
http://www.museums.state.ak.us/services.htm

There are also excellent chapters on handling in the New Museum
Registration Methods edited by Rebecca Buck, available thru the AAM
bookstore.
