Digital Image Retoucher
The Visual Resources Department at the Newseum is seeking a part-time Digital Image Retoucher to support the department during a heavy image production. The images will be part of several exhibits opening in 2012.
Duties:
Under the supervision of the Imaging Technician, the Imaging Retoucher will:
* Color correct, clean and retouch digital files of recent, digitally produced images as well as older photographs shot with film.
* Upress images to specific target sizes as needed
* Scan photographic prints as needed
* Assist the Imaging technician in other digital file adjustment duties as directed
Requirements:
* Advanced knowledge of digital image processing software such as Adobe Photoshop CS5
* Demonstrated experience in color correction, cleaning and retouching photographs
* Familiarity with Perfect Resize 7.0 or similar upressing software
* Familiarity with flatbed image scanning
* Demonstrated familiarity with file-management systems
* Knowledge of quality control techniques and best practices related to digitization processes
* Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to work accurately in detail-oriented, busy production environment
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
Hours: 25-30 hours/week for approx 4 weeks starting Nov. 1, 2012
This is a paid contract position with an hourly rate of $15 per hour
