Deadwood History, Inc. (DHI) is currently seeking an Education Director.
DHI is the nonprofit organization that oversees the operations of the Adams
Museum, the Days of ’76 Museum, the Historic Adams House, and the Homestake
Adams Research and Cultural Center.  DHI is located in Deadwood, South

JOB TITLE:  Education Director



REPORTS TO:  Executive Director



SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Responsible for the development and implementation of
educational programs for youth.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Lead and develop educational programs, tours, and events for youth.

2.    Create new educational programs for youth.

3.    Plan and implement school year programs such as: Weekend Workshops,
Snoozeum, Festive Fridays, Family Fun Day, etc.

4.    Plan and implement summer camp programs such as: Archaeology Camp,
Pioneer Camp, Dino Camp, Native American Lifestyle Camp, etc.
5.   Build and maintain relationships and collaborations with local and
regional educational organizations and groups. Serve as a liaison with
local schools, school districts, universities, families, and children.

6.   Collaborate with exhibits staff to develop interpretive materials and
programs.

7.   Supervise the activity and development of education department staff,
interns, and volunteers.  Build staff’s capacity to develop and deliver
exceptional programs and resources.

8.   Book school tours, including invoicing and maintaining shared calendar.
Schedule and manage staff and volunteers for the tours.

9.   Travel to schools, community centers, and other locations to develop
and maintain a public outreach presence.

10. Order and maintain the inventory of program supplies.

11. Work with communications department to develop marketing and public
relations strategies for youth programs and create and deliver program
flyers to schools and other area locations.



SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Assist with public programs as sponsored by Deadwood History, Inc.

2.    Other duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

1.    Advanced degree in education, history, museum studies, or related
field.

2.    Prior experience working with children in an educational setting.

3.    Proficient in a variety of computer technology and social media
outlets.

4.    Some weekend and evening work required.
5.   Knowledge of preK-12 learning and teaching strategies, curriculum, and
standards.


6.    The duties of this position include the ability to stand for long
periods of time, sitting, bending, kneeling, and lifting or moving objects
up to 30 pounds; climbing stairs and walking over varied terrain; and
exposure to outdoor elements is necessary, at times.

7.    Must be able to see, speak, and hear effectively.
