I am using Guided Access and standard Restrictions to configure iPads to run a single applications in a Kiosk environment. All buttons will be blocked by casework. I can lock down the applications thoroughly, but I have one problem I cannot find a solution for -- a "screen saver."
In lock down mode, the kiosks will run a single app for 24/7/365 and I'm concerned the screens will burn-in (or "ghost") without some kind of screen saving routine: dimming, blanking, or a custom screen saver. They will most certainly fail prematurely.
Because the buttons are concealed, and a screen touch does not normally "wake" an iPad, I can't use built in sleep/dimming. The visitor would have no way of waking the app. I appears that iOS "Screen Saver" applications don't run automatically so no help there. Mokitouch, Kiosk Pro, and X-stand all have screen save functions, but it appears that none of these can run a standard, non-web based iOS app.
I've considered trying to use Apple Configurator to turn the iPads on and off remotely, but that means using a second computer connected via USB. Kinda overkill.
Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.
