Gallery Assistant, New York City
For our blue-chip New York City gallery we are seeking a Gallery Assistant.
This is an excellent position for an enthusiastic and friendly team-player
who enjoys being the public face of a prestigious gallery. The successful
applicant will greet clients and visitors; answer and forward calls; assist
with gallery openings and events; maintain mailing lists; update image
databases and other files; provide general office and administrative
support; and other duties as assigned. The ideal applicant will have at
least 3-4 years' experience in a similar role with a gallery or auction
house, excellent communications, organizational and phone skills and the
ability to respond to and work with a broad range of queries, personalities
and co-workers. BA in Art History preferred; strong Photoshop experience,
familiarity with ArtBase or equivalent image-based databases and flexibility
during auction season and art fairs required. Knowledge and interest in the
arts, discretion, highly professional presentation, punctuality and
attention to detail are essential. Salary commensurate with experience plus
