Greetings all - Happy February!
I'm collecting information of fees to use a research library or archive.
Could you please share responses to the following?
1. Do you charge a fee to use your research library?
Members/non-member difference? What is the fee?
2. Does your library have dedicated staff - or does a research
request mean that staff must turn from other responsibilities to assist?
3. Do you permit use by appointment only, or on a drop in basis?
My answers to the above - we do not charge to use our small research
library. We do not have dedicated staff for the library - our
architectural research coordinator has many other responsibilities. Our
library is accessible by appointment only.
We are discussing implementing a fee structure. Some staff think it
should be inexpensive - $5. Others think it should be the cost of a
membership ($40) with a discount for students.
What's your experience?
