Glen,
Fonts and printing are often tricky. I suggest you talk to the tech support group of the seller/manufacturer/design engineer of your barcode system.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Barcoding Membership Cards
For many years we have manually recorded visitor
data but now we are trying to go to a barcode system on our membership
cards.
We are having some trouble with creation of the
barcodes. We can read all sorts of barcodes on commercial
products but when we downloaded a free type 39 font and
printed it our barcode reader does not recognise it. Seems that it is not
as simple as we thought.
Are there any hints out there? We are on a limited
budget.
Thanks!
