Hi,
I know that the SCAD Museum of Art is using the Square with iPads. From the costumer point I can tell you it was simple and easy. I can't speak to the back end.
Good luck,
HM

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Mobile POS systems
Hello all—
I am Curator of a midsize living history museum. Throughout the year we hold a number of large outdoor events on our property, the largest of which is a WW2 Reenactment drawing more than 8,000 people. We have struggled with admission systems at our gates. Likewise, we often find that we can’t answer all the questions we have about how sales were in our Store tent or at our food tent. For years we have relied on cash boxes, plug-in credit card readers, and a manual systems of counting people and product.
We are investigating POS systems that would work with tablets so that we can make our admission gates more efficient and more easily reconciled, as well as having better control of store and food inventory at these events.
Is anyone using tablets in these ways and, if so, what systems have you used successfully or unsuccessfully? We’d love to hear pros and cons of any of it.
Thanks,
Laura B. Furman, Curator
