EDUCATOR
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library has opened an experiential,
interactive Discovery Center on American Presidential decision making.
We are looking to hire Educators to engage students in our scripted
Discovery Center scenarios. The ideal candidates are energetic,
versatile professionals who can oversee groups of young people as well
as interact with the educational community. The Discovery Center is a
place where students can experience the responsibilities and challenges
faced by the Executive Branch and those individuals closely associated
with the administration. This comprehensive, high-tech learning
environment includes a replica Oval Office and White House Press Room, a
Boeing flight simulator, and a military situation room aboard a U.S.
Navy ship. This individual will be an employee of the Ronald Reagan
Presidential Foundation. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is a
non-profit, non-partisan organization that sustains the Ronald Reagan
Presidential Library and Museum, the Air Force One Pavilion, the Center
for Public Affairs and the Presidential Learning Center. Located in Simi
Valley, California the Library houses over 55 million pages of
Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers, an extraordinary
collection of photographs and film, and over 100,000 gifts and artifacts
chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. 

 

DUTIES:

*         Run scripted Discovery Center scenarios for 5th-8th grade
students

*         Supervise school groups of 5th - 8th grade students

*         Administrative tasks, including compiling and sending
materials to teachers

QUALIFICATIONS:

*         Bachelors degree required

*         California credential is required; no emergency credentials
accepted

*         Experience supervising 5th- 8th grade students in a classroom,
museum or other public setting

*         Proven ability to think strategically

*         Proven ability to adapt to change

*         Must have experience with and a desire to work with a diverse
population of students, teachers, parent chaperones, and volunteer
docents

*         Experience leading group discussions


Position Type: part time - fifteen hours or more/week
Salary: $15/hour
