Community Coordinator
 

General Description:

The Children's Museum in Oak Lawn is seeking a full-time Community Coordinator.  The position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Operations/Programming staff.  

 

Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

  a.. Facilitate communication and collaboration within the community.
  b.. Develop and nurture relationships with the educational and cultural community outside CMOL who will help position CMOL as a leading regional family resource.
  c.. Develop and build collaborative and strategic partnerships with a wide range of community organizations, businesses and government agencies.
  d.. Recruit for participation in membership and volunteer programs
  e.. Issue press releases for CMOL programs, events and activities when appropriate.
 

 

Secondary Responsibilities
  a.. Assist with member/potential member communications through promotions and marketing efforts.
  b.. Assist staff and board with special events and programs as needed.
  c.. Energize the broader Southland community to actively support the Children's Museum and position the Children's Museum as advocate for children's and education issues.
 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  a.. Ability to speak in a public setting and to initiate and maintain effective public relationships. 
  b.. Ability and desire to work with children of all ages and people with diverse backgrounds. 
  c.. Proven success operating standard computer software (Microsoft Office).
  d.. Ability to do multiple tasks, prioritize them and work well with frequent interruptions.
  e.. Excellent attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  f.. Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
  g.. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  h.. Flexibility, dependability, and professional demeanor.
  i.. Ability to work well independently.
 

 

Working Conditions:

  a.. Informal office environment. 
  b.. Involves some evening and weekend hours. 
  c.. Moderate amount of travel. 
  d.. Frequent interaction with the public including children, parents, and other community members.
