Jeff, you might want to speak with Kitty Wilson Evans at Historic Brattonsville in McConnells, SC. She is a scholar and interpreter of the history of slavery. She will be here Saturday - tomorrow - for our Mec Dec celebrations. Otherwise, you can call Brattonsville. I can get you the number if you need it.

Subject: July 4th Question

Hi all,

I'm assisting a colleague with a research question and I wanted to see if any of you have any documentation. Could any of please provide documentation of what slaves were doing during the 4th of July in the south? I look forward to your replies. Many thanks!

Best wishes,

Jeff
