I contributed to The Oatmeal's campaign to "build a goddamn Tesla
museum!" It was most awesome! Previously, The Oatmeal raised like
$250,000 for his "Cancer Bad, Bear Love Good" campaign, which was
donated for cancer research and I think the World Wildlife Foundation.

While not everyone will get the Oatmeal's endorsement or even a
retweet from a famous person for their project, crowdsourcing for
fund-raising is raising millions of dollars and isn't just for rock
stars or online comics. It's helping small artists and entrepreneurs
get their start as well. Museums should seriously be looking into
this.
