Amy,
I too am a student in the Museum Studies Program here at George
Washington University. Marie Malaro has excellent connections here in
the DC area for internships, which is a required part of the degree
program. The positive aspect of the GW program is that it allows you
flexability to study from a wide range of academic disciplines, including
anthropology, art history, biology and american studies, in addition to
the museum program. The Cooperstown program also has an excellent
reputation, however, I believe it is primarily focused in historic
preservation/history. Both programs should help you to get a job in
museums, although they don't guaratee anything due to the fact that it
is an extremely tough job market. I would recommend getting a head
start before graduate school and start to volunteer or do an internship
in a museum to help build up your resume. Good Luck!
