Last week I gave a talk to a small county historical museum. Afterward,
one of the volunteers asked about software. They are finally getting a
computer, and have been trying to find out what small museums use them for.
Although I have volunteered at a museum, and have training with Material
Culture, this isn't my area of expertise, so here I am. What he said they
do mostly is genealogy. I also thought a database for thier collection
would help, as well as some sort of membership software. I realize this has
been discussed recently, but at the time it did not apply to me, so I
didn't save the messages. The museum, the Ontonagon County Historical
Society Museum, doesn't have access to the'net, so I'll pass any
suggestions along. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
