  ASSISTANT CURATOR OF EDUCATION
  
  
   
  The National Society Headquarters seeks an Assistant Curator of Education to coordinate the activities of the DAR Museum Volunteer Programs, which include Docents, Correspondent Docents and interns, as well as provide support to the educational programs of the DAR Museum.  This position also serves as the visitor services advocate and reports to the Curator of Education.
   
  Responsibilities include scheduling and giving tours, planning, developing and organizing docent training and materials, preparing docent schedules, organizing and coordinating Correspondent programs, and serving as a liaison with the National Correspondent Docent Vice-Chairman.  
   
  The Assistant Curator of Education will also work closely with the Curator of Education in developing and running educational programs, including school, Girl Scout, family and public programs, and museum consortium events, will work with Registrars to create new slides or revise existing slides or images and photography, revise Gatebooks and self-guided maps, develop new materials when needed, and update the database of tour and program attendance figures including walk-in visitors statistics.
   
  Requirements: BA or MA in History, Museum Education or Museum Studies and previous museum experience that involved providing member/visitor service are required.  Experience conducting tours is desired.
   
  Qualified applicants must also demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, work in a team oriented environment, be detail oriented and possess excellent writing, organizational and MS Office skills. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate a high level of judgment and discretion when working with volunteers, docent programs and the museum collection.
