PROPERTIES ASSISTANT

Description:
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is seeking a responsible,
organized and self-motivated individual to handle the records and
communications of the properties department including the operation,
planning and programs of three historic sites: Hay House (Macon, Ga.),
McDaniel-Tichenor House (Monroe, Ga.) and Rhodes Hall (Atlanta, Ga.).
The statewide office for properties is located in Atlanta.

Reports to:
Senior Director of Properties

Primary Responsibilities:

> Assist the Senior Director in the overall administration of Trust
properties and evaluation of potential properties.

> Draft letters, position statements, and other documents in the areas
of planning, training and designated projects related to the
administration of three historic sites.

> Evaluate departmental goals, provide updates to the strategic
long-range plan and recommend improvements in day-to-day operations.

> Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of
meetings and special events including planning, management of records,
and tracking the implementation and results of these proceedings.

> Attend meetings and conferences as requested by the Senior Director.

> Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
The associate should have a working knowledge of preservation practice
or museum standards. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree
preferred in American history, museum studies, public history,
preservation or related field. Excellent communications skills
mandatory. Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks
simultaneously.  Proficient with computers and management of records.
Should have commitment to historic preservation and positive attitude.

Compensation:
Full-time position with full benefits.
