Ridgewood Historical Society‘s Upcoming Project Preservation Workshops

Project Preservation is a workshop institute conducted by the Ridgewood Historical Society in the Schoolhouse Museum in Ridgewood, NJ, under the direction of Bari Falese, professional conservator and museum consultant.  Programs are geared to providing hands-on education on artifact conservation and preservation for historians, collectors, fellow historical societies, museums, and students of museum studies.  Workshops are 9:30 to 4:30 with a break for lunch.

Project Preservation Workshops Fall 2007 Schedule: 

Saturday, Sept  15th :                      Make Your Own Archival Boxes & Supports.

Saturday, October 20th:    How to Clean, Display and Store Samplers (bring an example)

Saturday, November 10th:           Humidification Techniques for Textiles and Ephemera  

Saturday, December 15th:           All About Quilts:  Their History, Care, and Storage.  

Upcoming Project Preservation Workshops:

January (Date TBA):          Open House Training for Past Perfect Museum Management Software:  bring your laptop and be introduced to the basics of Past Perfect or come with questions and receive personal attention.

January (Date TBA):          Emergency Preparedness:  a plan tailored for each participant.

February (Date TBA):                     Creative and Inexpensive Labeling Techniques for Displays

March (Date TBA):              How to Create a Display from Start to Finish.

 

The fee schedule is $60 per class, ($50 for members of the Ridgewood Historical Society).  Three classes are $150 for nonmembers or $120 with membership.  Lunch can be reserved for an additional charge of $10.
